Description:
Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, a director of development will be responsible for advancing pipeline
renewable energy projects (primarily battery storage projects) from inception through commercial operation. You will be
involved with all aspects of project development, such as real estate negotiation, management of interconnections with
balancing authorities, permitting requirements, preliminary engineering requirements, sequencing and linking of
construction events, etc. Projects will be located in multiple different states and periodic travel will be expected. All
members of the development team need to be results oriented, have an excellent ability to work with others and a desire to
solve complex problems. An ideal candidate for this role will be motivated to mentor junior developers regularly to include
occasionally traveling with more junior developers to provide in person assistance for important project meetings.
Essential Responsibilities:
Project Management and Development:
Champion the creation of projects through presenting them to the Greenfield Committee.
Work with the Real Estate Team to execute real estate agreements to secure project site control.
Integrate with the Transmission Team to submit and manage project interconnections with balancing authorities.
Advance the project through environmental and local permitting with the support of the Environmental and
Permitting Team.
Coordinate with the Engineering, Procurement and Construction Team to secure long lead items for project
competition, evaluate project design and finalize project layouts.
Provide and validate inputs for the Finance Team to enable effective project valuations.
Contribute to continuous process improvement.
Provide mentorship and guidance to more junior team members.
Power Marketing & Support for Structured Offtake:
Work closely with the Market Analytics and Origination Team to evaluate market opportunities and provide pricing
guidance based on customer goals and priorities in alignment with project model underwriting assumptions.
Assist in executing and negotiating long-term structured transactions with wholesale and commercial offtake to
support the financing and build-out of new renewable energy and storage projects.
Establish and maintain relationships with existing and new customers in the IOU, Muni, Co-op and competitive retail
supplier.
Assist in overseeing the internal support teams through all aspects of the complex sales process to closing:
Evaluate Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and provide project level inputs to bid preparation process.
Support the Origination Team in conducting research into customers’ businesses and energy procurement activities,
including stated goals, targets, or Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) obligations, and develop initial ideas for Peregrine
offerings.
Required Skills/Experience
At least 5-8 years of experience renewable energy or project management. The ability to manage multiple internal and
external stakeholders to advance projects and build consensus is essential.
Bachelor’s in Engineering, Management, Finance or a similar field recommended or MBA is recommended.
Experience with the interconnection process in SPP, MISO, ERCOT and/or PJM is a plus.
Demonstrated success in project permitting with project opposition.
Knowledge of various commercial offtake structures used for renewable energy and storage projects.
Strong attention to detail while still being able to multitask.
Outstanding communication and time management skills, high attention to detail, and organized in approach with
sound judgement.
Ability to make decisions given incomplete information and rapidly learn and use new skillsets.
Willingness to travel within the US and Canada (30%)
Salary: Salary Range is $150k - $220k
Bonus: This position may be eligible to receive an annual cash incentive bonus capped at a % of your base salary and on your
performance review.
