The Fabrication Shop Supervisor for GFP is a highly organized individual who oversees the production of goods in our facility. This critical role manages the fabrication process ensuring that products are made efficiently, within budget, and of high quality. To successfully do this job, the Fabrication Shop Supervisor will supervise their teams, monitor production output, and make sure that targets are met. Additionally, the Fabrication Shop Supervisor is responsible for managing all schedules and workflows. Their responsibilities also include identifying production-related problems and developing solutions with teams.
Relocation assistance will be provided if willing to relocate to Charlotte, NC.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for overseeing the fabrication process ensuring all parts are made to engineering print specifications, made efficiently, within budget, and of the highest quality
- Supervising a staff of six, or more, individuals. Closely monitors the skills of all fabrication shop employees. Promotes the highest levels of morale and productivity
- Responsible for the daily processing of shop orders by all personnel in the fab shop. Supervises scheduling of orders and machine time.
- Responsible for maintaining adequate tools and supplies for the fabrication shop and assists Production Manager in the selection of new and replacement tooling and equipment.
- Responsible for maintaining the preventative maintenance schedule for the equipment and machinery in the fabrication shop. Uses inspection equipment and ensures that inspection of all records is completed and maintained as required.
- Responsible for stocking and stock location of all raw materials used by the fabrication department.
- Plans work methods to maximize part output and supervises the scheduling of orders and machine time
- Supervises and performs the set up and operation of press brakes, turrets and laser cutting machinery.
- Coordinate with purchasing to schedule raw materials to meet the production plans.
- Responsible for submitting daily production reports for all fabricated parts.
- Assists in ensuring safe working conditions and promoting plant safety.
- Performs other duties as required at the direction of the Production Manager. Will provide supervision back up, as required, for Production Manager.

Requirements and Skills
- Proven, and progressive, experience as Fabrication Supervisor
- Must be familiar with the preventative maintenance requirements for press brakes, turrets and laser cutting machinery.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Wide-range knowledge of production management
- Understanding of quality standards and health & safety regulations
- Knowledge of performance evaluation and budgeting concepts
- Experience in reporting on key production metrics
- Proficient in MS Office and ERP software
- Outstanding communication ability
- Excellent organizational and leaderships skills

Supervisory Responsibilities
The Fabrication Shop Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of the following staff members:
- Team Leads and Assistant Supervisor
- Press Brake Operators
Qualifications Requirements
- Minimum 5 years as a supervisor in a sheet metal fabrication environment utilizing press brakes, turrets and laser cutting.
- Proven leadership track record with ability to drive a team to include coaching, and performance management
- Excellent analytical, interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and in a fast pace, quick changing environment
Education and / or experience
- BSc/Ba in business administration or relevant field is preferred. Relevant years of experience will substitute for education experience
Language skills
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to employees of the organization.
Reasoning ability
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Certificates, licenses, registrations, specific machinery experience
- Forklift Certification. (Must be able to pass operating and written test.)
- Must have experience with Press Brakes
- Must have experience with Turret Punch
- Must have experience with Laser Blanking
- Shear experience a plus
