Job Summary:
Focuses on ensuring the company is up-to-date on current food, labeling, and packaging regulations, and various certification programs. Assists with the maintenance of specification and compliance documentation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Regulatory Responsibilities (30-40%)
· Serves as the subject matter expert by monitoring changes in regulations, particularly state and federal regulations regarding packaging, food additives, and labeling.
· Assists with label review to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory standards.
· Assists with the development of nutrition profiles for finished products, including creating Nutrition Facts panels and ingredient statements for finished product labels.
· Assists with documentation supporting regulatory requirements for imported and exported orders.
· Assists with management and approval of suppliers, including HACCP/ food safety documentation review and supplier audit program.
Compliance Functions (30-40%)
· Manages and maintains external product information databases such as GDSN and customer portals
· Manages and maintains documentation required for Non-GMO Project Verification, Kosher Certification, and TTB.
· Assists with the management of internal specifications for raw materials and finished goods.
· Assists in the review of inbound production materials against specifications and compliance needs.
· Assists with other initiatives the company may enter in the future, such as Sustainability initiatives
Operations and Customer Service support (20-30%)
· Assists with the support of sales and customer needs by fulfilling customer documentation requests.
· Assists in the support of Operations and Purchasing by providing up-to-date information on approved or potential suppliers and documentation needs.
· Assists with production-related tasks, such as production scrubbing, inventory level review, hold/expired products review
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Job Requirements:
Education/Experience: Associate’s degree in food science or a similar related field or 4-7 years experience in food quality assurance, regulatory compliance or food facility auditing.
Skills: Team-oriented and independently motivated with strong leadership skills in all essential job functions. Excellent grammar and mathematical skills, with the ability to calculate figures and amounts (i.e., discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume) as well as apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry to duties. Must be adept in the use of MS Windows 10 or later, particularly Excel, Word, and Access or similar database; Internet, email, inventory software, order processing systems, and manufacturing software. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and attention to detail.
Knowledge: FDA food regulations, HACCP, FSMA, Kosher, NGP requirements, QA systems, food processing, food and nutrition labeling, and supplier auditing. Basic knowledge in Food Science or a related field is required.
Physical: Capacity to walk up and down stairs while carrying objects weighing 32 lbs. Ability to work on feet for at least 6 hours. Ability to work at a computer for periods up to (8) hours. Periodically needs to work onsite at a production facility during manufacturing for (8-12) hours in a day. Ability to lift packages up to 32 lbs periodically. May be required to drive his/her personal vehicle and supply proof of insurance.

Must have an acceptable driving record and automobile insurance meeting Company’s requirements. Must have the ability to travel. HACCP or FSMA certification or capable of attending and passing HACCP or FSMA class. Professional appearance and high standards of personal hygiene at all times.
