Under the general supervision of the SpEd Director, to implement ESL program for students.
Essential Functions
- Evaluates, instructs and improves English proficiency using proven, research based instructional practices
- Experience administering the OELPA
- Knowledgeable of State and federal requirements
- Implements programs of study
- Fosters an inclusive classroom climate conducive to learning that is consistent with both district and building goals
- Utilizes instructional and behavioral management systems that increase student learning
- Monitors student progress toward mastery of instructional goals and objectives
- Communicates effectively within the educational community and with parents on a regular basis
- Meets professional responsibilities
- Demonstrates accurate and current knowledge in subject area
- Differentiates instruction to promote achievement for all students
- Leverages district curriculum maps and Common Instruction Map in instructional planning
- Follows established discipline procedures
- Encourages students’ attendance
- Sets high positive expectations for the performance of all students
- Implements concepts of PBIS consistently and with fidelity
- Prepares and implements lesson plans to teach instructional objectives
- Follows grading policies and procedures, and maintains accurate and complete student records
- Follows confidentiality procedures regarding students, parents/guardians, and fellow staff members
- Adheres to established federal, state, District and Board laws, policies, rules, and regulations
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by the SpEd Director and other administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
Equipment
- Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
- Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

- Excellent organizational skills; ability to keep concise records.
- Sensitivity to the developmental stages of children; sensitivity to second language development/acquisition and cultural awareness.
- Openness towards parent communication.
- Experience with technology in facilitating instruction.
- Willingness to be flexible in terms of teaching assignment within the school setting.
- Ability to prepare comprehensive reports, speak and write effectively and work undera minimum of direction.
- Ability to elicit the cooperation of others and function as an effective team member.
- Ability to participate in the overall educational program and team planning,development of activities that include long range strategic goals and initiatives.

Qualifications Profile
Certification/License:
- Valid Ohio teaching certificate or license
- TESOL Endorsement
- Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
- Bachelors from an accredited college or university in related field.
Experience:
- Successful prior experience working as an ESL teacher, preferably in a K-12 educational setting Co-teaching experience strongly preferred
