What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corporate Counsel position at Performance Contracting Group?
PCG is seeking an experienced Corporate Counsel for its Corporate Legal operations based in Lenexa, Kansas. This individual will:
Serve as the primary legal contact for company branches nationwide;
Be the primary interface with, and manage outside counsel on all matters of litigation or regulatory compliance;
Oversee and execute legal duties relating but not limited to joint ventures, claims, mitigation of risk, government contracts and other day to day legal items;
Draft, review, interpret and negotiate a wide range of contracts and agreements including subcontracts, purchase orders, master contracts, non-disclosure agreements and non-compete agreements;
Review and improve standard contract templates and identify areas of continuous improvement for the contract management process and other company processes;
Counsel company branches on legal implications of commercial and operational matters in order and provide legal advice that aligns with company’s goals;
Develop, implement and present training programs for operations and corporate personnel on risk mitigation, contract management, and regulatory compliance;
Performing records and legal research;
Work in conjunction with various internal departments to identify and address legal and business issues; and
Perform additional tasks as requested by the General Counsel.
Basic Requirements:
Juris Doctor
Minimum of 7 years of experience
License to practice law
Strong organizational skills and ability to adapt to an evolving work environment
Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize a workload efficently
High level of emotional intelligence
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
Proven track record of being proficent in litigation and handling claims
Ability to maintain high quality work output in a dynamic work environment
Ability to work independently, efficiently and proactively on multiple projects under tight deadlines while maintaining a commitment to quality
Ability to travel up to 25%
Proven track record of being a self-starter
Preferred Requirements:
Construction industry experience
Federal Compliance and/or Government Contracting experience
Employment/Labor law and/or Corporate Governance experience
Local or willing to relocate to the Kansas City Metro area
