Job Description
The Field Support Tech position is responsible for supporting all regions and jobsites between Alabama and Texas, with occasional trips up north towards Indiana or Colorado. Setup new jobsites; run wires (could include crawling under trailers in extreme heat and weather conditions), punch down patch panels and wall jacks, install switches, and position wireless radio shots (could include high elevations, over 100 feet). Work with the Network teams and Datacenter teams on installations and troubleshooting equipment, to include cameras, electric gates, intercoms, copiers, and servers.
Specific responsibilities are:
- Primary responsibility is to take care of jobsite setups
- Secondary responsibility (when in the office) is ServiceDesk support
- Respond to requests for technical assistance in person, via phone, and electronically in a timely manner and with an attitude that conveys a strong sense of professionalism and subject matter expertise
- Cultivate good working relationships with clients, jobsites, end users and team members
- Document all pertinent information regarding a jobsite setup, an issue or a request
- Follow standard procedures and assist in keeping all procedures documented and current
- Escalate issues as needed to the appropriate resource
Requirements:
- 3 – 5 years’ experience in cabling and networking
- Excellent communication skills and positive attitude
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Work independently and/or with a team to
Must Have Technical Skills:
- Advanced understanding of pc and laptop hardware
- 3 – 5 years’ experience supporting Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Windows OS
Valued Additional Skills:
- Computer related degree with 5 years of experience
- Experience with working with remote teams and jobsites
- Advanced understanding of networking (installing switches, radios, access points, and wiring)
General Working Conditions:
- Monday through Thursday 7:30-5:30, Friday 7:30-4:30
- Work is performed primarily in the field and often involves exposure to extreme noise levels and extreme weather conditions
- Travel is a must (OSHA and TWIC certifications necessary, as well as a valid driver’s license and clean driving record)
- Supporting several offices and jobsites with varying degrees of connectivity
