Job Description: Maintenance Supervisor

Position Summary:
The Maintenance Supervisor oversees the daily maintenance operations at our pallet and firewood packaging manufacturing plant. This role ensures all machinery, equipment, and facilities operate efficiently and safely. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with strong leadership abilities to maintain a productive work environment while supporting the plant's goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance Operations:
- Schedule and perform preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues with manufacturing equipment, including palletizers, conveyors, saws, and packaging machinery.
- Coordinate timely repairs, upgrades, and replacements of equipment.
- Team Leadership:
- Supervise and lead the maintenance team, ensuring tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
- Train and mentor team members on maintenance procedures, safety practices, and equipment operation.
- Monitor team performance and provide regular feedback to ensure continuous improvement.
- Maintenance Software System:
- Utilize the MaintainX software system to track, schedule, and document all maintenance activities.
- Create and manage work orders, preventative maintenance schedules, and equipment history within the system.
- Train team members on effective use of MaintainX for accurate reporting and workflow optimization.
- Analyze maintenance data in MaintainX to identify trends, plan improvements, and enhance overall equipment reliability.
- Project Management:
- Lead and participate in maintenance-related projects, such as equipment installations, upgrades, and facility expansions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scope, timelines, and deliverables.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and aligned with company objectives.
- Collaboration with Leadership:
- Work closely with the Vice President of Operations to align maintenance activities with strategic business goals.
- Provide input on operational improvements, equipment investments, and long-term planning.
- Deliver regular updates and reports to the Vice President of Operations on maintenance progress, challenges, and project outcomes.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce safety standards and protocols to maintain a hazard-free work environment.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of equipment and facilities.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA guidelines.
- Inventory and Budget Management:
- Maintain an adequate inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies.
- Manage maintenance budgets, track expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to source quality materials at competitive prices.
- Collaboration Across Teams:
- Work closely with production supervisors to minimize disruptions during maintenance activities.
- Participate in cross-departmental meetings to align maintenance activities with production goals.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
- Experience:
- 5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Experience with maintenance software systems, particularly MaintainX, is a strong advantage.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Working Conditions:
- Exposure to manufacturing environments, including noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- May require occasional evening or weekend work during emergencies or peak production times.
