Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Maintenance Technician to join our 2nd shift team at our lumber sawmill. This position focuses primarily on performing preventative maintenance to ensure the smooth operation and longevity of our equipment and systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) on a variety of machinery, including saws, conveyors, motors, hydraulics, and pneumatic systems.
- Inspect, clean, lubricate, and adjust equipment to maintain optimal performance and prevent breakdowns.
- Troubleshoot and identify potential mechanical and electrical issues during PM checks and report findings.
- Replace worn or damaged components such as belts, bearings, chains, and gears as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of completed maintenance tasks, inspections, and repairs using the designated maintenance management system.
- Collaborate with other maintenance team members to plan and prioritize maintenance schedules.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with company safety standards and OSHA regulations at all times.
- Assist in maintaining an organized and well-stocked inventory of tools and spare parts.
- Support emergency repairs when necessary to minimize downtime.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
- 2 years of experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in a sawmill or manufacturing environment.
- Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Familiarity with industrial machinery, including sawmill-specific equipment, is a plus.
- Basic understanding of electrical systems and ability to read schematics is preferred.
- Proficient with hand and power tools.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and perform tasks that involve climbing, bending, and working in confined spaces.
- Comfortable working in a loud, dusty, and temperature-variable environment.
