Role
PDW seeks a Director of Manufacturing Systems & Processes to join the Production Operations team as a key contributor to data analytics, process management, and efficiency generation. As a valued member of the PDW team, you will play a critical role in the manufacturing systems, engineering, and production processes. In this position, you will be working collaboratively with multiple departments including design engineering and procurement to transition products from NPI (New Production Introduction) to mass production. The Director of Manufacturing Systems & Processes will have the opportunity to provide guidance, structure, and functional guidelines for PDW’s day-to-day manufacturing engineering and production processes.
Responsibilities:
- Lead data analytics, visualization, and material flow efficiency within multiple PDW production lines in a fast-paced environment
- Project manage manufacturing systems architecture, configuration, initiatives, and reporting strategies and implementation to support production scale
- Work collaborative with engineering and product teams to translate product design intent to highly manufacturable end-product
- Review, advise, and assist product development practices and procedures to identify DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFT (Design for Test) implementation
- Partner with quality and manufacturing engineering functions to form and refine work instruction processes for sub-assemblies, final assemblies, and fixtures/jigs
- Assist Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, and Production Control in achieving a highly efficient, high volume production process that seamlessly integrates all disciplines
- Design production line(s) and assist management with managing the value stream and maintaining the VSM (Value Stream Map)
- Develop, utilize, and submit plant metrics and KPIs to management teams.
- Participate in and manage key rituals affecting production health including MRP, ECO, RCA processes.
- Regularly review production for process optimization opportunities for improvement and cost reductions and write SOPs for production and the plant
- Represent manufacturing and assist in all certification processes, ISO, AS, and any other required
Requirements
- Direct experience in management and administration of enterprise level software tools including ERP, MRP, BOM-management, and CRM applications
- Experience in Manufacturing Engineering and data analysis in a low volume/high mix manufacturing environment
- Excellent communication and coaching skills to train production staff as required
- Experience working across manufacturing, sales, and engineering disciplines to translate design intent to high quality fulfilled product.
- A keen eye for detail and a results-driven approach, i.e., plan, research, design, execution, adjust
- Subject matter expert on BOM, part number generation, and revision control
- Demonstrated experience with successfully implementing the NPI transition and product release process
- Excellent math abilities and working knowledge of data analysis/statistical methods including inference
- Experience with incorporating automated equipment and maintenance of the same
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. At least 10 year’s experience may be used in lieu of a degree.
