Performance East Inc is seeking a lot porter to join our staff. Applicants must be safety oriented and work well in a team environment. Part time and full time opportunities available for this position!
Job Summary:
The Lot Porter is responsible for the maintenance and organization of the dealership’s lot, ensuring that vehicles and equipment are clean, properly displayed, and ready for customers. The role also includes assisting with property and equipment upkeep, unloading inventory, and supporting the sales and service teams as needed. This is an outdoor role that requires physical labor and a strong work ethic.
Key Responsibilities:
Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance & Organization:
- Assist with uncrating and setting up new inventory, including ATVs, UTVs, and boats.
- Unload boats and vehicles from delivery trucks using a forklift (training available for those without prior experience).
- Assemble and set up trailers as needed.
- Organize and maintain the sales and service lot, ensuring vehicles are well-presented and easy to access for customers.
Cleaning & Detailing:
- Regularly clean, polish, and detail vehicles and equipment, ensuring all inventory is in top condition for customer viewing.
- Assist with washing and detailing vehicles as needed to maintain the dealership’s image.
Property & Equipment Maintenance:
- Perform general property maintenance, ensuring that the lot and surrounding areas are tidy and free of debris.
- Assist with equipment maintenance, including checking for basic functionality and making minor repairs when necessary.
Customer Assistance:
- Greet customers upon arrival and assist in providing information about available inventory.
- Assist the sales and service teams with vehicle transport, customer deliveries, and basic customer service tasks as directed.
Physical & Outdoor Work:
- Work outside in varying weather conditions, ensuring that the dealership lot is safe, organized, and accessible.
- Lift and move vehicles and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs or more.
Additional Duties:
- Perform other tasks as assigned by management, which may include helping with service department needs, handling parts, or assisting with special projects.
Job Requirements:
- Forklift Operation: Ability to operate a forklift, or willingness to learn (training provided).
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to interact positively with customers and coworkers.
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift and move heavy objects (50 lbs), and work outside in all weather conditions.
- Mechanical Skills: Basic mechanical knowledge is a plus, and the ability to troubleshoot minor issues with vehicles or equipment.
- Common Sense: Practical decision-making abilities and the ability to work independently when needed.
- Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required for operating vehicles and equipment.
Work Environment:
This position involves working outside in all weather conditions and may require physical labor such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. A strong customer service attitude and ability to multitask is essential.
