Position Overview:

At Performance Eyecare, being an Optician isn’t just about vision—it’s about fashion, confidence, and delivering an exceptional sales experience. This role is perfect for someone with a passion for high-quality products and a flair for helping patients find eyewear that fits both their personality and lifestyle. As the friendly face guiding our patients, you’ll help them navigate the exciting journey of selecting the perfect eyewear. From recommending stylish frames to suggesting lenses that enhance their vision, you’ll play a key role in ensuring they see—and feel—their best.

Optician Responsibilities:

  • Assist Patients: Help patients find frames that fit their style, face shape, and lifestyle while recommending the best lenses and coatings to optimize their vision.
  • Troubleshoot Glasses Issues: Identify and resolve any concerns related to fit, prescription accuracy, or lens performance, ensuring every pair is perfect.
  • Perform Adjustments and Repairs: Make precise frame adjustments for comfort and alignment, and handle minor eyewear repairs with care and expertise.
  • Submit Insurance Claims: Verify patient benefits, process insurance submissions, and explain coverage details clearly to patients.
  • Manage Lens Orders: Accurately measure, place, and track lens and eyewear orders to ensure timely delivery.
  • Educate Patients: Clearly explain lens technologies, care instructions, and pricing in a way that makes patients feel confident in their choices.
  • Stay Organized: Maintain inventory, order supplies, and keep the dispensary and lab areas running smoothly.
  • Support the Team: Collaborate with fellow team members to ensure a seamless patient experience from start to finish

Other office responsibilities:

Front Desk:

  • Warm Welcome: Greet patients with a smile and assist them with check-in and check-out.
  • Scheduling: Manage appointment bookings, confirmations, and cancellations.
  • Patient Records: Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality.
  • Billing: Handle insurance verification, co-pays, and payments.
  • Communication: Answer phone calls, respond to emails, and address patient inquiries.

Technician:

  • Pre-Exam Prep: Assist with patient history, vision tests, and preparation for eye exams.
  • Equipment Operation: Use and maintain diagnostic equipment such as autorefractors and visual field machines.
  • Patient Care: Help patients feel comfortable and informed during their exam process.
  • Data Entry: Record exam results and assist with updating patient files.
  • Support: Collaborate with the optometrist to ensure a smooth and efficient exam process

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in sales is preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Basic knowledge of optical products and services is a plus but not required.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Have a drive for growth and a motivation for success.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems and office software.
  • Positive mindset and a go-getter attitude.
  • Willingness to work at other office locations when needed, demonstrating a commitment to supporting the team and ensuring smooth operations across all sites.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $14.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
