What are the responsibilities and job description for the Category Manager / Dry Grocery & Imports position at Performance Foodservice?
The Category Manager position will perform the following duties:
QualificationsBachelor's Degree.
Must be organized and detail oriented.
Must have excellent computer skills including, but not limited to, Excel & Outlook
Must have strong communication skills – both written and verbal.
Must have strong critical thinking skills.
Minimum Of 5 Years Food Procurement/Buying Experience.
Currently this role requires a Minimum of four in-office days per week, possibly more depending on meeting schedules, cuttings, marketing events, etc., as well as mandatory attendance at all sales meetings, promotion kick off events, and Food Shows.
- Be responsible for the category sales and overall gross profit of the categories.
- Manages assigned replenishment buyers and monitors their performance through metrics such as fill rates, inventory turns and aged inventory.
- Be responsible for ongoing training and development of assigned replenishment buyers.
- Consolidate inventory to minimize number of SKU’s stocked in house and identify opportunities to convert products into our private label.
- Source new products as needed and ensure that what we offer is the best possible quality and price for both the customer and the company.
- Procures product and manages incoming transportation of high quality.
- Conducts regularly scheduled category reviews with suppliers and brokers to determine where there is opportunity for growth.
- Manages all existing marketing programs and seeks to negotiate new marketing programs where needed and ensures confidential treatment of related information.
- Identifies and manages slow moving/obsolete inventory and has a plan of action to clear out the stock and determine how to move forward with that item.
- Negotiates special prices for sales promotions and programs.
- Interacts with customers and vendors and answers their questions in a professional, timely and quality manner.
- Consults with Company personnel regarding customer requests, product specifications, quality, and other issues, as necessary.
- Responds to sales and customer service requests and inquiries timely, professionally, and accurately.
