Job Summary
The Diesel Fleet Mechanic Specialist is responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and safety of company vehicles, including vans, tractors, and trailers. This role involves troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing diesel engines, transmissions, steering mechanisms, ignition, electrical and hydraulic systems, air conditioning, refrigeration controls, and units.
This position requires a high level of technical expertise, with the ability to interpret data and make sound judgments. The ideal candidate will have 6-12 months of experience in truck or automotive maintenance, as well as advanced skills knowledge equivalent to 6-12 months training in truck/automotive maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform regular scheduled tractor inspections, complete checklists, troubleshoot, and make routine repairs as required.
- Assist in performing major repair work to tractors and trailers, disassemble, remove, repair, or replace defective parts or components.
- Servicing and repairing refrigeration units, repair engines, repair leaks, replace tubing, condensers, thermal controls, and recharge units with approved refrigerant gas.
- Operate electric arc welding equipment to repair ramps, ladders, and tripods, repair or construct new cargo bars.
