Job Description
This Diesel Mechanic Helper role is a critical part of our team's success. As a Diesel Mechanic Helper, you will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of company vehicles, including tractors and trailers.
About You:
- You will have a strong background in truck/automotive maintenance, with a minimum of 6-12 months experience.
- You will be able to interpret complex data and use diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot issues.
- You will have excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in performing regular scheduled tractor inspections, complete checklists, troubleshoot and make routine repairs as required.
- Perform major repair work to tractors and trailers, disassemble, remove, repair or replace defective parts or components of gas or diesel engines, transmissions, steering mechanisms, ignition, electrical and hydraulic systems, air conditioning, refrigeration controls and units, clutches, brakes and mechanical or electrical operating units.
- Operate electric arc welding equipment to repair ramps, ladders and tripods, repair or construct new cargo bars.
- Assist on road service trips, maintain required logs, records, checklists and reports, maintain garage tools, equipment and work area in a clean and orderly manner.
