What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at Performance Pallet Llc?
OVERVIEW
This position plays a key role and will have a direct impact on the overall operational cost of Performance Corp. through performing purchasing for both Performance companies.
Summary: The Buyer will process all requisitions to ensure timely delivery of materials. This individual will have the ability to consolidate requests & negotiate with suppliers about pricing, delivery, etc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Managing and implementing the purchasing process across all sectors of the company.
Purchasing (Parts & Supplies) for the plant/projects (sending RFQs, doing price comparisons, negotiating with suppliers & consolidation of vendors as well.)
Finding new cost reduction opportunities & coordinating with other locations as needed.
Coordinating with operations & maintenance.
Developing relationships with other suppliers.
Ensuring on-time deliveries & follow up with suppliers.
Maintaining supply of Personal Protective Equipment and first aid.
Maintain inventory of Restroom and cleaning supplies.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.
Education & Experience
o Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent level of experience required. 1 year related experience preferred. Related manufacturing industry experience is a plus.
Communication Skills
o Ability to read & interpret documents such Balance Sheets, Trial Balances, General Ledger and other documents that directly pertain to the position.
o Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively present data before groups of employees.
o Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
o Must be detail-oriented with a pleasant, professional attitude and the ability to handle stressful situations calmly.
Mathematical Skills
o Ability to work with general mathematical concepts.
o Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical solutions.
Computer Skills
o Knowledgeable in the use of computers, including the intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and other programs as required.
Reasoning Ability
o Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
