We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Biller to join our physical therapy team. Duties
- Process and submit medical billing claims to insurance companies and patients.
- Review patient records for accuracy and completeness before billing.
- Utilize ICD-10, ICD-9, and DRG coding systems for proper claim submission.
- Manage accounts receivable by following up on unpaid claims and resolving discrepancies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical billing regulations and compliance standards.
- Communicate with patients regarding their bills, payment options, and any outstanding balances.
- Collaborate with medical staff to ensure accurate documentation of services provided.
- Handle medical collections in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a medical office setting with a focus on medical billing and coding.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and coding systems including ICD-10, ICD-9, DRG, and medical collections.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance representatives.
- Certification in medical billing or coding is preferred but not required.
