What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Assurance Lab Technician position at Performance Roof Systems?
The primary focus of the Quality Assurance Technician is to inspect products at different phases in their production to ensure they meet a set of consistent standards. Their duties include performing visual inspections, recording quality issues and planning processes to decrease the instance of defects in products.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Completes work with a limited degree of supervision
2. Verifies the overall quality and conformity of finished product to specifications. Reports non-conformances to the Quality Manager. Performs root cause analysis
3. Performs laboratory tests to verify conformity of raw materials and finished products to specifications;
4. Works with manufacturing to identify and correct quality issues and non-conformities during shift;
5. Reviews vendor certificates and laboratory inspection reports on raw materials;
6. Reviews production inspection reports and laboratory inspection reports on finished products;
7. Updates databases relative to raw materials and finished products;
8. Assists with, or performs inspection of products returned to the plant;
9. Participates, as requested, in the update of laboratory methods and procedures;
10. Ensures the conformity of laboratory instruments
11. Reports all laboratory equipment problems to the Quality Manager;
12. Always maintains a clean, and safe work area; follows safe work practices; wears proper personal protective equipment; reports spills & HSE incidents; follows proper waste disposal practices.
13. Performs all other duties assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
1. High school Diploma or GED minimum
2. Microsoft Office Proficient (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access)
3. Manufacturing and/or Quality Lab experience a plus
4. Good written and verbal communication skills
5. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
6. Attention to detail is a must
7. Must be willing to work nights and weekends
Working Conditions and/or Physical Demands:
1. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
2. Frequently is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
3. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
4. May be exposed to noise, dust, fumes, airborne particles, smoke (Not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels).
5. Safety training and equipment are provided by the company in accordance with applicable law, industry standards and company policy.
