What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fire Alarm & Fire Sprinkler Inspection Technician position at Performance Systems Integration?
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Fire Life Safety Inspector to join our team. This role involves inspecting, testing, and maintaining fire alarm and sprinkler systems, hood suppression systems, backflow prevention devices, and emergency/exit lighting. The ideal candidate will have technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to safety and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct inspections and testing of fire alarm and sprinkler systems, hood suppression systems, and emergency/exit lighting.
-Perform backflow prevention device testing per USC 10 and applicable state/local codes (certifications may be required based on jurisdiction).
-Assist and coordinate with life safety system testing efforts.
-Document all inspection and testing results in compliance with NFPA and local regulations.
-Assess customer sites for additional service or equipment needs.
-Communicate identified deficiencies to customers, explaining issues and potential solutions.
-Ensure timely and accurate completion of work orders and test documentation.
-Maintain strong customer relationships and provide relevant information for follow-ups, quotes, and service inquiries.
-Stay up to date with technical knowledge through manuals, bulletins, and product literature.
-Service and maintain company vehicle in line with manufacturer and company standards.
-Keep work vehicle organized and stocked with necessary tools, parts, and equipment.
-Maintain tools and equipment required for safe job performance.
-Adhere to OSHA and company safety protocols, ensuring a secure work environment.
-Comply with company policies, procedures, and all applicable regulations.
-Demonstrate reliable attendance and a cooperative team spirit.
-Follow direction from supervisors and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
-High school diploma or equivalent.
-At least 1 year of experience in fire alarm, fire sprinkler, or fire life safety systems (preferred).
Certifications & Licenses:
-NICET I (Fire Alarm Systems or Fire Alarm Test & Inspect) required.
-NICET II (Fire Alarm Systems, Fire Alarm Test & Inspect, or Water-Based Systems) preferred.
-E4 Wet/Dry Chemical Fire Extinguishing System Certification (Seattle area only) preferred.
-FEX-1 Fire Extinguisher Certification (Seattle area only) preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
-Proficiency with basic hand tools (hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.).
-Strong mechanical, electrical, and technical aptitude.
-Ability to multitask, troubleshoot, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
-Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
-Strong verbal and written communication skills.
-Ability to provide outstanding customer service.
-Ability to assess and respond to safety hazards in real time.
-Ability to maintain focus, work under stress, and manage interruptions.
-Willingness to travel between job sites as needed.
