What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dramatics Director (One Act Director/Producer) position at Performing Arts?
North Reading Middle School is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to direct and produce a one-act play for our middle school students. This role is to provide our students with a creative outlet and a chance to enhance their theatrical skills while fostering a supportive and engaging environment for students to explore their artistic talents and prepare for future opportunities in the performing arts.

Essential duties
- Script Selection: Choose a play appropriate for middle school students considering age-appropriate themes, length, and cast size
- Casting: Audition and select students for various roles in the play
- Rehearsal process: Lead rehearsals, guide actors in character development, blocking (stage movement), and line delivery
- Technical aspects: Collaborate with stage crew on set design, lighting, sound, and props
- Performance Preparation: Ensure the cast is ready for opening night, including dress rehearsals and final polish
- Communicates effectively with the custodial staff at the building
Requirements
- Prior experience in performing arts, play direction, and/or play producing preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and problem solve independently
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
