What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tech Director (One Act Lighting & Sound) position at Performing Arts?
North Reading Middle School is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to be a tech director for the one-act play for our middle school students. This role is to provide our students with a creative outlet and a chance to enhance their technical theatrical skills while fostering a supportive and engaging environment for students to explore their artistic talents and prepare for future opportunities in the performing arts.

Essential duties
- Assist in the casting and audition process
- Work with students and Director to design an appropriate set
- Schedule set builds and technical rehearsals in conjunction with the Stage Director
- Support and teach students on safe and artistic design, building, and painting techniques
- Train students in proper lighting and sound design and operation
- Train student stage managers on correct cueing and calling of a play
- Be present at all performances and tech week rehearsals to provide a transition between rehearsals and performance
- Coordinate the strike and resetting of the theater and theater spaces following a production
- Coordinate the backstage and technical student crew including set changes and special effect management
Requirements
- Prior experience in performing arts, technical direction, and/or play lighting preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and problem solve independently
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
