Traveling Construction Superintendent/ QC Manager

Perimeter Security Partners is looking for a motivated and professional traveling Construction Superintendent/ Site Quality Control Manager with strong construction trade experience to install active vehicle barriers (AVB), security fencing, personnel gates, bollards, underground electrical distribution (conduit pathways), concrete equipment/ parking pads, and passive vehicle barrier (PVB) equipment at access control points (ACPs) throughout the United States. Project sites will include military installations, federal government facilities, industrial sites, data centers, major sporting and event venues, and other commercial facilities.


The Superintendent/ QC Manager is responsible for performing a variety of roles on construction sites on behalf of Perimeter Security Partners. The Superintendent/ QC Manager may be assigned as the company’s Superintendent, Quality Control Manager, and/ or Site Safety and Health Officer. Based on the assigned role, The Superintendent/ QC Manager will be responsible for a range of subcontractor management, quality control, safety management, construction supervision, and schedule management tasks. They should have advanced proficiency with excavation; reinforced concrete placement; chain link, palisade, and welded-wire fence installation; trenching and conduit installation; the ability to safely operate a mini-excavator, forklift, and skid steer and the capacity to procure materials, rent equipment, track labor hours, and complete daily reports. The position requires someone with an outstanding work ethic, a commitment to managing a safe work environment for their team, good interpersonal and supervisory skills, and the ability to plan and execute quality work. The Superintendent/ QC Manager reports directly to the Senior Project Manager.


Duties:


Upon assignment as Superintendent:

  • Supervise and direct the work of subcontractors at the project site, to include monitoring work to ensure compliance with the drawings and specifications.
  • Perform periodic inspections of work performed by subcontractors, developing punch lists when appropriate and ensuring all required re-work, touch-up work, or corrective action is completed satisfactorily.
  • Ensure all site and client specific training/ site access requirements are met for all PSP employees and subcontractors.
  • Provide accurate and complete daily reports to the Project Manager.
  • Deliver a weekly update to the 2-week look-ahead schedule to the Project Manager.
  • Receive, inspect, and ensure the proper storage of all project materials delivered to the site.
  • Ensure the project site is clean and safe at all times.
  • Perform monthly progress review with all subcontractors and provide recommendations to the Project Manager for monthly invoicing.
  • Conduct project site walks with the customer each month to document construction progress and confirm monthly completion percentages for all pay activities.

Upon assignment as Quality Control Manager:

  • Implement the project specific Quality Control Plan.
  • Conduct preparatory meetings prior to the execution of all definable features of work.
  • Conduct in-process inspections during the execution of all definable features of work.
  • Conduct final inspections for all work in place.
  • Stop work as required to prevent work from being completed out of compliance with the project drawings and specifications and prescribe necessary corrective action before continuing work.
  • Direct the activities of 3rd party inspectors and test laboratories on site.
  • Coordinate inspection and oversight from the Government’s Quality Assurance Representative.

Upon assignment as Site Safety and Health Officer:

  • Implement the Site Specific Safety and Health Plan/ Accident Prevention Plan.
  • Enforce compliance with all safety requirements and procedures by PSP employees, subcontractor employees, contractors, and customer personnel on site, stopping work as required to correct unsafe situations.
  • Be present and provide safety oversight for all high risk work activities.
  • Ensure all construction equipment is being properly maintained and inspected periodically while on site.
  • Monitor all personnel for the proper use of PPE and perform periodic inspections of all PPE.
  • Conduct daily ‘tool box talks’ which address applicable safety topics.
  • Conduct in-depth safety briefs prior to high risk activities, significant changes to the conduct of work, or changes to site conditions/ weather.
  • Collect and organize all electronic documentation for each project, including pre-bid, bid, preconstruction, construction, and close-out documents. Ensure it is available on site at all times.
  • Assist the Chief Operating Officer with the conduct of pre-bid site visits, site investigations, kick-off meetings, and pre-construction meetings as required.
  • Assist the Project Manager with routine communication, including e-mail and telephonic contact with vendors, subcontractors, and customers.


Requirements, Skills, and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years of experience as a construction supervisor/ foreman, superintendent, and / or quality control manager is required.
  • Minimum of five years of experience with excavation, the placement of reinforced concrete, and/ or the installation of industrial fencing.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and installation details.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug test to permit access to military installations and similar controlled areas.
  • Highly desire expertise and knowledge in operating heavy equipment (mini-excavator, backhoe, front end loader, skid steer, forklift, lull, man lift, etc).


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds to waist level.
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and have full use of hands, fingers, and arms.


Additional Information:

  • Recurring travel for two (2) to three (3) weeks at a time on new installation / construction projects at locations throughout the US. (90% travel)
  • Employee will be given a company credit card for approved expenses (e.g. hotel, fuel, tools, and materials). A fixed per diem to cover meals and incidental expenses will also be provided.
  • Hands-on and other training opportunities available to augment skills and increase proficiency with a wide variety of physical security infrastructure equipment.


Benefits:

  • Full Time / Hourly Pay ($90,000 - $100,000 annually based on experience, plus per diem)
  • Matching 401K (4%)
