Location: Rancho Cucamonga, California
Type: Full Time 40 hours per week
Description: Support Research Scientists conduct research projects/experiments that support Fire Safety. The R&D Laboratory Technician position will report to the R&D Manager. Will work closely with other laboratory staff, departments and agency technical staff.
Major Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Collaborate with research personnel to support the development of fire safety products.
- Conduct laboratory tests in accordance with established procedures.
- Accurately document and report testing results, observations, and relevant data, providing team support as needed.
- Ensure a clean and safe laboratory environment, including routine cleaning, maintenance, and organization of lab facilities and equipment.
- Handle lab spills and safely dispose of samples, raw materials, and chemicals, following all safety and environmental regulations.
- Perform safety inspections and checks as required.
- Receive, inspect, organize, and assign unique identifiers to incoming test samples.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments to ensure optimal functionality.
- Prepare solutions and reagents as assigned.
- Monitor and manage inventory, placing orders for lab supplies as necessary.
- Participate in ISO audits and adhere to compliance standards.
- Execute additional duties as assigned by leadership.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or university with at least 3 years of relevant industry experience, OR a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- Strong laboratory skills, including experience performing tests and handling data collection in a fast-paced R&D or manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and make timely, sound decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented, with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing tasks and priorities.
- Skills in collaboration and productivity enhancement.
- Knowledge of safety protocols for working with laboratory chemicals and equipment.
- Capable of lifting to 50 lbs.
