The Opportunity:
Intermediate Designer (large-scale, senior living, healthcare, hospitality) for Perkins Eastman Architects DPC to work at our Los Angeles, CA loc. May telecommute one day per week.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in project feasibility development and evaluation of site, related to parking, building location, exterior systems of movement, and solar orientation.
- Develop test fits and compile feasibility reports.
- Assist with master planning services that include site and building components, interior systems of movement, blocking and stacking.
- Analyze comparative systems with engineers and consultants related to structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical disciplines.
- Work with specifications team, consultants and vendors to assist with technical specifications development.
- Develop final construction plans on initial proposals in adherence with client requests.
- Prepare scale drawings and contract documents for building contractors.
- Provide building information modeling management of digital project components, including development of the BIM execution plan.
- Assist with the construction administration phase projects, including independent submittal review, RFI investigation and response, and limited site observation.
- Lead sustainability project management and research, including incorporation of design elements, task level management, and scheduling specific alignment with LEED process and checklist development.
- Consult with domestic and international clients, under the direct supervision of a licensed architect, to determine functional and spatial requirements of a new structure or renovation and prepare information regarding design, specifications, materials, color, equipment, estimated costs, and construction time.
- Use computer-assisted design software and equipment to prepare project designs and plans. Perform design activities such as IBC, ANSI/ADA code research, material and building systems research, laying out program components and refine the design options and develops building details.
- May undergo background checks.
- Little local travel to client locations may be involved.
- Salary is $88,712 annually.
Required Qualifications:
- Must have Bachelors in Architecture and 3 yrs rel exp with designing and documenting senior living facilities, workplace commercial/mixed-use, large-scale, healthcare, master planning, and hospitality projects, and required skills (3 yrs exp).
- In the alternative, must have Masters in Architecture and 2 yrs rel exp with designing and documenting senior living facilities, workplace commercial/mixed-use, large-scale, healthcare, master planning, and hospitality projects, and required skills (2 yrs exp).
- Required skills include: design, construction procedures, zoning building codes, and building materials; 2D software including AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe After Effects and Adobe InDesign, Bluebeam, and Affinity Creative Suite; 3D software including Revit, Rhino, Python, and SketchUp; visualization software including V-ray and Enscape; parametric coding tools including Python and Grasshopper; office automation software including Newforma Project Center, Microsoft Outlook, and Deltek Vision; interior and exterior design and documentation; renovation and expansion projects including existing building survey and documentation; and LEED documentation process.
