Under the direction of the Studio Manager, the Recording Studio Assistant is
responsible for assisting in the overall operation of the recording studio and supporting the recording studio book and magazine/custom recording production programs. Includes audio editing and reviewing, assistance with volunteers, possible narration assignments and technical support.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations include the following:
- Assist with the conversion of digital production files into formatted digital book and magazine files for final mastering and duplication.
- Assist studio manager in the preparation of narration materials to be read by volunteers, which includes research of word pronunciation, photocopying and marking up copy and/or creating pdf files.
- Assist in reviewing and editing audio files produced by studio volunteers.
- Assist in the remote volunteer program, which includes working with narrators and editors who volunteer off site by sending them reading material, and the transfer of audio files via Dropbox or other file sharing services.
- Assist in setting up volunteer assignments for the day.
- Assist in monitoring and maintaining studio equipment and keeping studio areas clean and in good working order.
- Assist with the copying, collating and packaging of materials for the studio.
- Perform other related duties and tasks as assigned.

- Knowledge of the English language, vocabulary and word pronunciation, and sensitivity to the artistic elements of the spoken word.
- Proficiency in computer operations.
- Ability to hear sound recordings.
- Ability to simultaneously read print while listening to studio recording sessions to ensure quality.
- Strives to continuously build knowledge and skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience in a related field required.
- Preference may be given to applicants with a broad literary background and appreciation, knowledge of Braille codes or concepts of Braille production and/or experience working with blind, visually impaired, physically disabled and/or multi-impaired people.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of recording software and Microsoft office.
