The Perkiomen Valley School District is seeking a Network/Systems Administrator. This is a full-time, 12-month position available beginning on July 1, 2025.
Position Description
Under the direction and supervision of the Chief Information Officer, this position works within a team and is responsible for the architecture, planning, set up, monitoring and ongoing operations of the IT infrastructure, encompassing local and wide area networks, telecommunication services and server hardware. This position supports large scale rollouts and maintains the stability of IT infrastructure and equipment. This position ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational and department goals.
Terms of Employment
- Full-time; 12 months (260 days)
- Final salary determination will be based on education level and experience and in accordance with the terms of the Non-Union Support Group compensation plan.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years experience in supporting and managing technology systems
- Advanced training or experience in server hosting, network and storage infrastructure, preferred

Essential Functions

- Maintain the IT infrastructure including all servers, firewalls, switches, and other equipment with vendor support.
- Upgrade network/server components as newer technology becomes available.
- Configure hardware, network, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
- Maintain existing IT infrastructure, log problems and troubleshoot systems and business applications to resolution.
- Assess infrastructure on a regular basis to ensure it continues to meet necessary demands.
- Manage daily operations of the technology department.
- Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
- Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks.
- Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
- Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.
- Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
- Apply patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new services as necessary.
- Upgrade and configure system software that supports the district infrastructure applications.
- Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.
- Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
- Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment.
- Works collaboratively with other users in organization to support District goals.
- Assumes any other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Special Requirements
Valid PA Driver’s License. Travel to PVSD school and district buildings, Montgomery County Intermediate Unit, and other locations in close proximity to the district. Responsibilities may require working evenings and weekends, at times, with minimal advance notice.
