Perky Beans Coffee & PB Café in Leander is currently seeking an experienced Restaurant General Manager to join our team and lead a fun, growth-minded company into the future. We operate two concepts under one roof; full-service coffeehouse with drive-thru on one side and scratch kitchen, table service breakfast/lunch restaurant on the other.
The General Manager is the face of our business and is responsible for overseeing all functions of the restaurant. Key objectives may include the planning, organizing, training, and leadership necessary to achieve objectives in sales, costs, labor, employee retention, guest service and satisfaction, food quality, cleanliness and sanitation, community engagement, and sustainability. You are an active member of your community and are responsible for generating and reaching all sales objectives while creating and maintaining an environment consistent with Company and service standards. Duties include (but are not limited to):
- Oversee all aspects of day-to-day operations and staff management, FOH and BOH for both the coffee shop and the café.
- Ensure that all guests feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly, courteous, and exceptional service.
- Be a role model, facilitator, trainer, and able employee in all positions.
- Assume 100% responsibility for the quality of products served and service given to guests while also achieving objectives for sales and growth.
- Lead and model overall culture, values, mission, and spirit of the Company.
- Demonstrate leadership; develop and maintain a consistent customer and employee experience that is in line with the values and philosophy of the Company.
- Ensure that all standards, guidelines, and procedures are communicated and followed by staff at all times.
- Ensures store appearance, safety, and cleanliness is maintained at all times, including seating area, FOH/BOH, and outside.
- Creates, adjusts, and implements training plans for new employees. Uses hands-on techniques to assess skills and conduct training.
- Is actively involved with their staff, regularly observing and coaching on performance, celebrating successes as well as discussing and offering suggestions for improvement and development.
- Perform employee reviews and conduct ongoing coaching and training sessions to ensure high levels of performance. Continually work towards developing all staff in managerial and professional skills to build future leadership.
- Oversee the creation of timely schedules for the team, ensuring proper coverage according to the needs of the business while maintaining target labor costs.
- Manage inventory and coordinate with vendors to order supplies; assess ordering patterns and changes.
- Add new menu items based on seasonality and customers' preferences.
- Ensure food safety and sanitation measures are met; ensure proper food handling and correct labeling/storage.
- Ensures proper equipment functionality and performs or enforces completion of regular equipment maintenance.
- Utilizes resources and available information to troubleshoot when equipment errors occur; responds in a timely fashion to problems.
- Be an active participant in developing and implementing marketing and promotional activities and campaigns.
- Develop relationships with the local community, collaborating with nonprofits, businesses, and local Chamber offices.
- Consistently monitor financial controls and reports to assure objectives are met in sales, costs, labor, etc.
- Create and maintain a fun, safe, and rewarding work environment for all employees.
- Be an active participant in Company growth objectives and projects; identify goals and objectives for yourself and the team to contribute to and foster an environment of continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- 4 years of operations and leadership experience in a fast-paced, casual dining restaurant
- Previous coffeehouse experience a plus
- Track record of being a proactive, involved leader with measurable results
- Previous restaurant cooking experience in a casual or fine dining establishment is preferred; expert in proper food handling techniques and procedures
- Availability to work any schedule is required; be able to work 45-50 hours per week
- Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to manage and motivate a team
- Customer service focus, a sense of urgency, and ability to be proactive are a must
