What are the responsibilities and job description for the Designer II position at Perley Cable Construction?
A designer uses computer software to create detailed and precise construction plans. Collaborate with the team to allocate resources, create a timeline, and draft 2D and 3D construction plans using design software. Additional responsibilities include researching and choosing the best material properties for modeling, stress-testing models to evaluate the structure’s resiliency, communicating progress on the project with project managers and clients, and revising designs as necessary based on client feedback.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Create accurate OSP network maps
• Prepares drawings and designs according to client engineering specifications using applicable software
• Provide support to other internal teams as needed such as permit packages and traffic control plans
• Make design decisions regarding construction and safety methods in accordance with all local, state and federal regulations as well as client supplied information
• Preparing detailed Construction Drawings to clients adhering to industry standards
• Communicating with internal staff and clients over phone and email
• Production/Time management of multiple workflows
• Perform quality checks on plan design drawings
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Familiarity with telecom projects detailing outdoor equipment, indoor building layouts and fiber diagrams
• Detail oriented, professional attitude, good communication, team player
• Excellent verbal & written communications skills, relationship building, self-starter, excellent time management and organizational skills
• Above average attention to detail
• Ability to work as part of a team or independently
• Ability to read information and instructions and interpret and analyze contents from materials such as technical reports
• Ability to solve problems that are frequent and unique.
• Ability to complete tasks with latitude to decide what work will be required well in advance of actual activities
Education and Experience:
• High School diploma or GED required
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word
• Must have experience with Vetro
• ArcGIS or 3GIS experience strongly preferred
Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Must be able to independently lift up to 15 pounds
Compensation and Benefits:
• Salary is commensurate with experience and will range from $21/hr - $31/hr
