Description
Non-exempt position. Implement and maintain the radiological controls program at the direction of the RSO in accordance with all applicable procedures, state and federal regulations.
Duties
· Provide radiological controls oversight to Facility workers.
· Perform radiological surveys, i.e., radiation, contamination, and airborne surveys, environmental monitoring.
· Implement and maintain the facility Dosimetry Program.
· Implement the facility ALARA, Radiological Health & Safety Policies.
· Operate various laboratory equipment, liquid scintillation counter, and basic radiological counting instruments.
· Maintain inventory and ordering of health physics supplies.
· Maintain records and prepare reports as assigned.
· Perform occupational radiation worker training.
· Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
· High School Diploma or Equivalent.
· Advanced training and/or equivalent experience in radiation protection and control.
· A minimum of one (1) year experience as a health physics technician.
· Good verbal and written skills.
· Knowledge of DOT, State and other Federal regulations desirable.
· Advanced training and/or equivalent experience in gamma/alpha spectroscopy desirable.
Working Conditions
Continuous field/facility work required where there is potential for exposure to radiation, noise, dust and hot and cold temperatures. Climbing, walking and lifting will be normal daily requirements
