POSITION TITLE: Referral Clerk
DEPARTMENT: Andrews Family Medicine-Rural Health Clinic
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: AFM Nursing Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY:
The referral clerk facilitates requests for referrals under a provider’s order. The referral clerk will provide information to referring physicians’ offices regarding covered benefits. The clerk will notify patients of scheduled appointments. The clerk will track each case from initial referral all the way through the service being provided and the requesting provider receiving the documentation on the services performed or the patient refusing to follow through with the referral. The referral clerk will document each development timely, consistently and accurately in the electronic medical record. The clerk will perform all other duties as assigned.
- Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- LVN license or RMA certification
- Knowledge and Skills
- Computer skills beneficial.
- Experience with electronic medical record preferred.
- Experience in healthcare setting preferred.
- Organization skills.
- Good communication skills both oral and written.
- Personal/Physical Requirements
- Mental and physical health to meet demand of position.
- Demonstrates ability to use verbal/written communication effectively.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to prioritize tasks.
- Performance Factors
- Employee will be responsible for maintaining the operation of Permian Regional Medical Center in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
- It is the responsibility of the employee to adhere to strict compliance to the ethics and compliance policies and procedures.
- The employee is responsible for ensuring that the personnel within their departments are acting ethically and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations within the guidelines set by the Compliance Policies and Procedures as well as the Ethics Policy (A009)
