Job Description :
Permian Resources (NYSE : PR) is currently seeking an Operations Geologist in our Midland, TX office. Reporting to the Operations Geology Manager, the Operations Geologist will support the operations geology needs of the Delaware Basin development program. The Operations Geologist is an integrated member of the development team having a close working relationship with asset geologists, project geophysicist and our drilling team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Geosteering of horizontal wells and well-to-well correlations in unconventional plays. A creative problem-solving mindset and the ability to successfully work in multi-disciplinary teams is a must for this position.
General responsibilities include :
- Responsible for Geosteering of our wells in the Delaware Basin including picking casing points, KOP's, landing the curves in the target formation, and executing the steering of the lateral section
- Prepare pre- and post-drill materials, Geo-progs, Type logs and structure maps
- Help QC survey plats, Geoprogs, Directional plans, permits to ensure consistent plans for the well prior to spud
- Prepare post-drill materials including final steering profile, Log filing, Formation Tops and Final lateral profile displays and other review materials as required
- Work closely with mud loggers / wellsite geologist when needed and drilling engineers to maximize successful steering of horizontal wells
- Maintain open lines of communication with the drilling engineers and geotechnical team and relay important formation information to help improve drilling efficiencies along with monitoring drilling operations to help improve the company's understanding of the subsurface through integration of drilling parameters and geologic information
- Participation in team and corporate level technical reviews
- This role requires supervision of 2-4 Full Time Horizontal Drilling Rigs
