Position Summary

Job Overview
- Perform daily startups of our sorting and packaging equipment.
- Carry out sorting and packaging equipment daily and weekly procedures.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance (PM) and basic service on sorting and packaging equipment.
- Manage existing sorting programs during daily production, based on sorting process assessment activities.
- Update sorting programs to maintain effective removal of defect product and foreign material.
- Identify causes of basic sorting failures (equipment, signal and/or program related).
- Manage interactions with sorter supplier, as it relates to PM and service visits, request for parts quotes etc.
- Train machine operators on sorting and packaging equipment.
- Stay in close cooperation with plant production team to maintain optimal product quality at all times.
- Maintain accurate records of service activities, including installation reports, maintenance logs, repair documentation, and personnel communications. Ensure that all service-related documentation is complete, organized, and up-to-date in accordance with SOP’s.
- Follow safety protocols and procedures while performing service activities, including adherence to relevant safety regulations and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Strive for continuous improvement and assist in identifying opportunities to optimize processes.
- Diagnose and repair malfunctions or breakdowns on sorting or packaging equipment utilizing technical manuals, diagnostic tools, and expertise to identify and resolve issues promptly.
- Investigate and troubleshoot technical problems reported by personnel and develop effective solutions to restore equipment functionality.
- Provide technical support and guidance regarding the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of sorting and packaging equipment. Address inquiries, concerns, and service requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Adhere to quality assurance standards and protocols established by the equipment manufactures SOP’s, ensuring that all service activities comply with company guidelines and industry regulations.
- This position will occasionally require flexible hours including overtime, second shift, and possible weekends and holidays.
- Required to stand for long periods.
- Frequent pushing, pulling, walking, kneeling, and reaching.
- Constant use of hands and firm grasping.
- Occasionally to frequently carrying or lifting 5-50 lbs. [of product].
- Must be able to work in a wet and cold environment.
- Extended exposure to temperatures between 36° F and 45° F.
- Exposure to chemical components such as chlorine, etc.
- Works overtime as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Background in sorting applications (food industry or sorting equipment company such as TOMRA, Key, Raytec).
- Experience in running tests and evaluations in industrial environments.
- Analytical capacity.
- High attention to detail.
- Desire to bring processes to optimal performance, making decisions based on observations and data.
- Ability to identify factors that control good & consistent process quality.
- Habit of documenting work and actions for traceability and reporting purposes.
- Meet physical requirements per Pero standards.
- Capability of performing work under environmental conditions existing at Pero production facilities.
