Summary
Reporting to the Technology & STEM Engagement Manager, the Maker Programs Educator - Part Time is an energetic, professional individual with a passion for delivering high-quality, STEAM-based programs to audiences of all ages. These programs will take place both in-person and virtually in the Museums onsite makerspace, The Challenge Lab, and through its community-oriented outreach program, the TECH Truck. The Educator assists with the following: development and implementation of maker-based curriculum/activities, training volunteers, maintaining supplies and equipment, and additional program operations. The Educator is responsible for ensuring that the Perot Museum maker-based programs are innovative, engaging, and fun, while providing outstanding, high-quality program experiences to the DFW community.
Duties & Responsibilities

Execute curriculum of the Challenge Lab and TECH Truck programs.

Assist with safety, program and presentation training for volunteers and staff.

Responsible for the operations of scheduled programs including supply prep, program set-up, clean-up, and implementation in accordance with the scheduled program time.

Actively participate in an ongoing training plan related to program delivery and techniques, program and outreach vehicle safety, customer service, and current technology/equipment operations.

Keep accurate records of program attendance, equipment, and supply inventories.

Maintain program processes, safety, and procedures to ensure high quality programming and efficient operations.

Assist with implementation of program evaluation strategy.

Assist in cross-department workload to accomplish all short and long-term institutional program goals.

Must be available to work weekend and evening hours.

Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge/Skills/Experience
REQURED:
-
At least two years of experience in a position that requires a passion for engaging youth in educational programs.

Some experience with a variety of maker-related equipment and software, such as 3D printers, laser and vinyl cutters, various hand tools, and more

Ability to display and use effective interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and collaborative spirit and interact at all levels of the Museum.

Proven effective presentation and communication skills, both written and oral.

At least two years of experience in a role that required a high degree of self-motivation, collaboration, organization, flexibility, and innovative.

Proven reliability in getting results using professionalism; and a commitment to promoting Museum values and mission.

A clean driving record and the ability to pilot large profile vehicles.
PREFERRED:

Bilingual in Spanish.

Some college or bachelor’s degree.
