About the Role
United Trades of America seeks an experienced Wheelhouse Captain to lead operations aboard our tug boat fleet supporting dredge projects, anchor handling, and barge towing. Operating primarily along the US East Coast and Gulf of Mexico, this role combines leadership, safety management, and technical expertise to ensure efficient, secure vessel operations.

Responsibilities
- Oversee safe, efficient operations of vessel, crew, and cargo.
- Manage and train crew, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and federal regulations.
- Conduct safety drills, equipment checks, and maintain accurate logs.
- Implement and maintain the Vessel Security Plan and Crew Endurance Management System.
- Manage communication with port authorities, USCG, and external stakeholders.
- Monitor budgets, fuel usage, and vessel maintenance for cost efficiency.
- Lead crew development, fostering a positive and professional work environment.
Qualifications
- USCG Master of Towing Near Coastal license; Oceans endorsement preferred.
- 3-5 years experience in dredge support, anchor handling, and barge towing.
- Valid TWIC and driver's license; ability to meet USCG physical standards.
- Proficiency with navigational systems and vessel operations.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.
