What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fleet Captain position at Perpetual Labor Sourcing?
United Trades of America is hiring Fleet Captains / Pilots for our clients fleeting locations in the St. Rose, Baton Rouge, Laplace, and Donaldsonville areas. This position offers a rotation of 14 days on, 7 days off, with 12-hour shifts (one week on nights, one week on days).
- Principal Responsibilities :
- Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vessel, crew, and tow.
- Enforce company policies, rules, and regulations; report violations to the office.
- Conduct monthly safety drills and meetings per company procedures.
- Instruct crew members on proper job performance and monitor their work.
- Act as the designated vessel security officer and manage all security-related duties.
- Ensure crew members are knowledgeable about the cargo and associated hazards.
- Oversee crew management, performance evaluations, and vessel budget management.
- Complete required logs and reports; provide direction to the mate and / or lead deckhand.
- Prepare barges for delivery to local customers.
- Qualifications :
- USCG Master of Towing Vessels license required.
- Must meet USCG physical examination standards.
- Ability to climb steep stairs and stand or sit for extended periods.
- Must maintain a valid USCG license and active TWIC.
- Reliable daily transportation to and from the worksite is necessary.
