Job Title: Support Worker for Exceptional Children
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker for Exceptional Children to join our team at Perquimans County School District. The successful candidate will provide essential support to students with exceptional needs, enabling them to fully engage in their educational journey. As a Support Worker, you will collaborate with teaching staff, therapists, and other support professionals to create and implement individualized plans that cater to each student's unique requirements.
Your key responsibilities will include accompanying students throughout the school day, observing, intervening, and assisting as needed to ensure their safety and inclusion. You will also assist with basic human functions such as breathing, toileting, eating, and feeding, as well as behavioral management. In addition, you will help collect data on student progress, maintain accurate records, and participate in training sessions to enhance your knowledge and skills.
Requirements for this position include a high school diploma and experience working with physically and/or behaviorally disabled children. You must also be able to exert physical effort necessary to frequently or constantly lift, carry, push, pull, toilet, transfer, diaper, and feed assigned students or otherwise move objects.
