The Field Carpenter will build, erect, install, and repair forms, structures, and other fixtures made from wood and other materials as needed to assist with several types of commercial construction projects. This role requires basic carpentry skills, the ability to work collaboratively, and motivation to grow within a dynamic team environment.

- Measure, mark, and arrange materials to establish layout based on blueprints or instructions from supervisors.
- Cut and shape structures, forms, or other fixtures from wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall.
- Use various hand and power tools to securely build assigned projects.
- Join materials with the most appropriate nail, screw, staple, or adhesive.
- Ensure the accuracy of work by checking completed projects with tools such as levels, surveying equipment, or framing squares; corrects problems as needed.
- Erect and dismantle scaffolding.
- Install windows and doors.
- Adhere to local building and safety codes and guidelines.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of vocational school or technical college or apprenticeship program; OR at least three years of experience via on-the-job training required.
- Ability to understand directions and read blueprints.
- Ability to solve mathematical problems quickly and accurately.
- Ability to properly care for and use tools of the trade.
- Thorough understanding of carpentry principles and methods.
- Works well as part of a team.
- Flexible, with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Self-starter who can take initiative and drive results.
- While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly required to lift and/or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, occasionally lifting to 75 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls.
- Must be able to traverse worksite in several types of weather and bend, climb, stretch, reach, and lean to make inspections.
- Must be able to safely work with sharp tools or power equipment.
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and terrains.
- Must have manual dexterity, a good sense of balance, and excellent hand-eye coordination.
- May require prolonged periods of standing, climbing, bending, stooping squatting, and kneeling.
- Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to focus.
- Work Environment: this position works primarily outdoors.
