Description Overview

We are currently looking for a Manager, Category & Shopper Strategy to join our CSS Team in Grand Rapids, MI. This is a hybrid role including three days in the office.

To lead the category & shopper strategy for a selection of categories across key customers.

The manager is primarily focused on providing marketplace insights including but not limited to consumer purchase dynamics, competitive activity, cross channel shifts and promotional activity, and to answer key business questions that ultimately, drive sustainable growth for Perrigo.

This role involves close multifunctional interaction across the Americas business functions, particularly marketing, to define and design the plan and sales to implement.

Scope of the Role

Define and lead what it takes to win for the categories, brands and products. Creating a clear omnichannel category strategy and translating this into the Sales Fundamentals tactics that the sales team need to execute. Hence defining how our store brand, value/insurgent brand and national brand products are executed in market to maximize the sales of our assets in each category across all value tiers.

Be the category expert in relevant categories, using insights to shape internal strategy and deliver results externally. Develop appropriate working relationships with commercial and category contacts in line with corporate account contact plans, as necessary, including presenting/selling category strategy and insights directly to account contacts, independently of account management team.

Tracking of performance for relevant categories and development of plans to improve and grow. Analyze in store activity to understand return on investment to improve future activity. Reporting to Business Unit Leadership team on initiative performance, highlighting opportunities and barriers to success, and recommending course correction plans.

Experience Required

  • Typically these skills are obtained with a Bachelor’s degree in a business related subject along with 6 years’ experience in a retailer support role via sales & marketing, commercial, or finance, ideally in FMCG.
  • Apply a personal drive to achieve and able to prioritize differing demands from key stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Possess a strong analytical mindset with proven results demonstrating ability to mine and organize data to create a compelling selling story.
  • Practice sound personal and team organization skills. Ability to effectively delegate.
  • Leads by principled example in ensuring effective communication, delegation and feedback to individuals. Must be able to influence others by considered thought.
