Description Overview
Under the direction of the Quality Compliance Supervisor, the Quality Specialist (Compliance) is responsible for assisting deviation investigations by performing an initial triage and capturing critical information from a quality and food safety perspective at the time of the event. They will provide quality input and support for production, packaging, and warehousing and will help drive continuous improvement through support and communication of findings to help establish corrective actions that will be verified and maintained.
Scope of the Role
- Initial triage and capture of first hand information and scope at the time deviations. Ensure immediate actions are taken which are compliant with procedures
- Provide constant quality presence, input, and support for the operations group.
- Perform equipment, equipment log and cleaning record review.
- Provide quality support to plant operation by facilitating continuous improvement initiatives, assisting in investigations, collaborating with plant personnel to identify and resolve compliance issues.
- Resolve, communicate and escalate issues from each shift focused on food safety, quality improvement and cGMP compliance.
- Provide recommendations on disposition decisions relative to issues occurring on their shift
- Identify areas of opportunity and support continual improvement of the Quality Management System.
- Conduct quality Audits focused on compliance to requirements (FDA, cGMP, SQF, HACCP, etc.) as needed.
Experience Required
- Bachelor of Science degree in a life science or closely aligned field. Relevant experience in food or working in an FDA regulated industry will be considered (5 years minimum).
- Ability to recognize variances from GDP and cGMPs in an FDA regulated industry.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Thorough understanding of equipment operation and manufacturing/packaging processes.
- Demonstrated strong analytical skills and ability to work independently against multiple deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability and flexibility to organize multiple tasks and meet project deadlines.
- Experience with SQF, HACCP, cGMP.
- Computer literacy is required.
