Who We Are
Perry & Associates is a structural engineering firm located in downtown Chicago. We provide structural and forensic engineering services for a wide variety of clients including architects, building management companies, private businesses and individuals.
About the Position
We are seeking structural engineers with experience in the design, investigation, analysis, and evaluation of building structures, particularly existing building structures. As a Staff Structural Engineer, you will work under the direct supervision of project engineers to assist in the design and analysis of new and existing building projects. You will also have the opportunity to gain project management experience on small projects, including development of scopes and proposal, direct interaction and coordination with clients, and schedule management. Typical projects will include a variety of modern and historic materials such as concrete, steel, wood, and masonry structural systems. Additional duties include field investigations to document existing conditions, construction site observations and documentation, and drafting of structural plans and details.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform local field investigations to document existing conditions and ongoing construction projects
- Develop and detail portions of project designs for new and existing building structures
- Perform calculations for new and existing structural building elements, including gravity and lateral system elements
- Review and interpret technical documents and designs
- Review and evaluate building codes and specifications
- Author technical reports and project correspondence
- Attend and participate in project meetings with clients and other design professionals
- Develop project scopes and proposals based on client requests
- Assist in the mentorship of junior engineering staff
