What are the responsibilities and job description for the Prevention Specialist position at Perry Behavioral Health Choices?
We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and skilled Prevention Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating prevention programs that aim to reduce the risk of substance use and mental health challenges within our community. You will work closely with individuals, families, and community organizations to deliver prevention education, raise awareness, and promote healthy behaviors.
Duties:
- Develop Prevention Programs: Design and implement evidence-based prevention programs targeting substance use and mental health issues within the community.
- Education & Outreach: Provide training and educational sessions to schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders to raise awareness about mental health and substance use prevention.
- Assessment & Evaluation: Conduct needs assessments to identify at-risk populations and evaluate the effectiveness of prevention initiatives.
- Community Collaboration: Build and maintain relationships with local agencies, schools, healthcare providers, and community groups to promote collaborative prevention efforts.
- Data Collection & Reporting: Gather, analyze, and report data related to program outcomes, trends in substance use, and other relevant health indicators.
- Crisis Intervention: Assist in the identification and referral of individuals in need of additional support, providing crisis intervention when necessary.
- Promote Wellness: Foster a culture of wellness through outreach and by supporting individuals in accessing resources for mental health and substance use treatment
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or associates degree preferred.
- Must hold or be eligible to obtain one of the following licenses: Prevention Specialist RA, OCPSA, pr OCPS.
- At least 1-2 years of experience in substance use prevention, mental health services, or community-based programming. Experience in behavioral health is a plus.
