What are the responsibilities and job description for the Athletic Director Middle School position at Perry Township School District?
- Collaborates with internal and external personnel to implement and/or maintain services and programs within athletics, academics, and clubs.
- Compiles data from a variety of sources to analyze issues, ensuring compliance with organization’s policies and procedures, and/or monitoring program components.
- Directs department operations, including be the lead administrator with athletics staff, custodial staff, and maintenance staff.
- Facilitates meetings and workshops in order to grow and engage student-athletes, coaches, and families.
- Manages assigned programs to ensure compliance with legal, financial and district requirements.
- Monitors budget allocations, expenditures, fund balances and related financial activities
- Performs personnel administrative functions (e.g. hiring, counseling, training, supervising, evaluating, providing professional development opportunities and ensuring necessary department/program outcomes are achieved).
- Prepares a variety of topics to document activities and issues
- Responds to issues involving staff, conflicts in policies and regulations, community concerns, parental requests that may result in negative impact and/or liability if not appropriately addressed
- Participates in a variety of meetings, including administrative team meetings and instructional leadership team meetings.
- Participates in the observing and evaluating of teachers in the classroom using the Perry Township observation model.
- Collaborates alongside the high school athletic programs as well as youth athletic programs to emphasize vertical alignment and consistency.
- Engages the community through technology tools such as social media and the school athletic website.
- Knowledge of athletics, athletic programs, and physical fitness and a clear vision for the athletic department of the school.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations regarding school district athletic programs, safety and health, and other areas under responsibility.
- Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as website design and social media use.
- Ability to evaluate, develop and implement athletic programs, activities and events, and make effective recommendations related to those areas.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
