Position Summary:
Elementary teachers in our District are high energy, passionate about the growth and development of our students, and engage in culturally responsive behaviors to ensure academic and health and wellness needs are met for all students.
Through the context of elementary classroom education, the teacher will plan, develop and impart researched-based classroom pedagogy proven to foster an enriching academic and social experience for all students.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
The qualifications noted below are required to enable the employee to perform the essential duties/responsibilities of this position.
Successful candidates will have, at a minimum:
- Missouri Elementary Certification, e.g., 1-6, K-6, or K-8, B-3
- Teaching experience or equivalent in an urban environment
- Superior interpersonal relationship skills
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
This highly effective and AMAZING teacher will:
- Implement instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences
- Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs
- Assist in assessing changing curricular needs and offer plans for improvement
- Implement the District’s Instructional Core goals and objectives to ensure student learning
- Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, and schools, as prescribed by the school's Professional Learning Community values and beliefs
- Demonstrate the ability to reduce the academic achievement gap
- Participate in District and building professional development activities
- Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating parent conferences, Open House, grading deadlines, etc.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Sufficient vision to read printed material, see distant objects with clarity, and identify and distinguish objects
- Sufficient hearing to hear conversations in person and on the telephone, and hear sounds clearly up to 30 feet
- Ability to speak in an understandable voice with sufficient volume to be heard in normal conversation and on the telephone, and in addressing groups
- Ability to exert up to 25 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
- This position requires standing, walking, sitting, bending and reaching for extended periods of time
- Sufficient manual dexterity and/or mobility to grasp and/or manipulate objects, operate mechanical equipment, and move about the work area
- This position will subject the employee to work environments that have exposure to weather or interiors with extremes of heat and/or cold, wet and/or humid conditions, high noise levels, and various work related hazards
