Qualifications:
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Art Education K-12 (or related field) and a valid Missouri Teaching Certificate.
Preferred: A Master’s Degree. Previous teaching experience.
FLSA: Exempt
Salary Schedule: Per Approved Teacher Salary Schedule
Direct Report: Building Principal
Terms of Employment: 9 Month
Eligible for emergency telework: Yes
Purpose: Provide students with an alternate form of communication and expression through art education. Work closely with classroom teachers providing connections between the core subjects and the visual arts to help strengthen knowledge in all areas.
Essential Job Functions:
- Attend work in a regular, reliable and punctual manner.
- To "telework" when requested by the District.
- Implement instructional methods applying contemporary principles of learning theory and teaching methodology, drawing from the range of instructional materials available.
- Create an appropriate classroom atmosphere conducive to individualized learning and creativity.
- Facilitate and assess student growth in visual arts history, aesthetics, production, and art criticism.
- Support classroom/core teachers through cross-curricular lessons.
- Provide support to classroom/core teachers by collaborating to help students with special needs (this could mean informing teachers of something that worked in the art classroom that they haven't thought of, OR it could mean collaborating to build those curricular connections.)
- Supervise cafeteria activities and help students get to the designated classrooms.
- Other assigned duties.
