Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled recent PhD graduate with a degree in biochemistry or a related field to join our dynamic research team. The successful candidate will contribute to our ongoing efforts in pharmaceutical drug formulation, focusing on the development and optimization of novel drug delivery systems.
This position reports to the Director of Development. It is on-site in West Sacramento, CA.
Job title: Research Scientist - Pharmaceutical Drug Formulation
Responsibilities
· Formulation Development: Design and execute experiments to develop and optimize pharmaceutical drug formulations, ensuring compatibility with regulatory requirements.
· Analytical Techniques: Utilize a variety of analytical techniques, including spectroscopy, chromatography, and microscopy, to characterize drug formulations and assess their stability and performance.
· Data Analysis and Interpretation: Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and draw meaningful conclusions to guide formulation improvements and decision-making.
· Collaboration: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including chemists, pharmacologists, and regulatory affairs professionals, to integrate drug formulation efforts into broader drug development projects.
· Literature Review: Stay abreast of the latest advancements in drug formulation and related fields through literature reviews, attending conferences, and engaging with scientific communities.
· Documentation: Prepare detailed and accurate documentation of experimental procedures, results, and conclusions for internal records and regulatory submissions.
· Compliance: Ensure adherence to quality standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements in all aspects of drug formulation research.
Requirements
· Education: PhD in pharmaceutical sciences, biochemistry, or a related field, with a focus on drug formulation development.
· Experience: Graduate or postdoctoral experience in pharmaceutical drug formulation, with a strong background in the development of novel drug delivery systems.
· Technical Skills: Proficiency in a range of analytical techniques and instrumentation, as well as a solid understanding of the principles of drug formulation and delivery.
· Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
· Team Player: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment, fostering open communication and knowledge sharing.
· Initiative: Proven ability to take initiative, drive projects independently, and adapt to evolving project goals and timelines.
Preferred qualifications
· Postdoctoral Experience: Additional postdoctoral experience in a relevant field, or an equivalent work experience, particularly with a focus on drug formulation or delivery systems, can be a strong asset.
· Specialized Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in a specific area of drug formulation, such as ASDs, nanoparticles, liposomes, or sustained-release systems, is desirable.
· Publication Record: A strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals showcasing contributions to the field of drug formulation and related research.
· Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical development, including experience with IND, 505(b), or ANDA submission support.
· Patent Experience: Experience in intellectual property management, including the filing of patents related to drug formulations or delivery systems.
· Industry Experience: Previous experience working in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, especially in a research and development setting.
· Project Leadership: Evidence of leading and managing research projects independently, including the ability to plan, execute, and deliver results within specified timelines.
· Technology Transfer Skills: Experience in transferring developed formulations from the laboratory to larger-scale manufacturing processes.
· Collaboration with External Partners: Experience in collaborating with external academic or industry partners to enhance research capabilities and explore collaborative opportunities.
· Continuing Education: Participation in ongoing professional development, such as attending advanced training courses, workshops, or conferences related to drug formulation.
· Multidisciplinary Skills: Proficiency in interdisciplinary skills, including the ability to collaborate with experts in different scientific and engineering disciplines.
· Adaptability: Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies, methodologies, and changes in project focus.

Salary : $90,000 - $100,000
