Person County Government is seeking an Education Coordinator - Captain for Emergency Medical Services. This role is responsible for managing complex technical and administrative tasks related to the development and implementation of an EMS Education program for the Person County Division of Emergency Medical Services.The position requires independent work with minimal supervision, with major activities reported during periodic meetings. The starting salary will be determined with consideration given to both the candidate's educational background and relevant work experience.Must possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record per County policy.This is a non-exempt position working 40 hours weekly/2080 hours annually and is eligible for overtime. May be required to work extended hours beyond those scheduled without notice. Will be required to work 12- or 24-hour shifts.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.Plans and coordinates all EMS Education programs at the basic and advanced levels for EMS divisional employees and maintains all training records for these employees.Provides input to employee performance evaluations related to training/education status.Oversees medical education for all EMS employees; coordinates new EMS skills and/or protocol update training between the Clinical Innovations Committee, the EMS Education Committee, Medical Director, EMS Division officers, instructors, hospitals and the community college system.Responsible for the planning, implementation and supervision of the Field Training and Evaluation Program (FTEP).Prepares EMS related instructional content and conducts training, or arranges training by others, on various topics relevant to the work of employees; documents training conducted.Works with the EMS Division Chief and the Medical Director to address training issues and/or scope of practice issues and conducts and oversees remediation programs for EMS employees with noted skills or knowledge deficiencies.Is responsible for and implementation of the continuing education requirements of the Infection Control Program, Hazardous Materials Program and Health Information Portability and Accountability/ Patient Privacy Program.Assists the EMS Division Chief in working with local fire departments to document the First Responder credentialing requirements specified in the First Responder Guidelines and Protocol agreement.Assists in the hiring evaluation process for potential new employees.Participates with federal, state, regional, and local EMS agencies to enhance EMS education; serves on committees, boards, or other activities engaged in determining goals, objectives, and policies for EMS education.Researches emerging trends, techniques and procedures in emergency medicine and adult education delivery.Serves as Infection Control/Health and Safety Officer for EMS and is responsible for OSHA records.Performs related work as assigned.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
NIMS ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800.The employee will be required to maintain and attend continuing medical education hours for their required certification.Certification by the State of NC as a Paramedic or the ability to obtain NCOEMS Paramedic Certification upon hiring.NCOEMS Level I Instructor at the ALS Level (Paramedic), within 6 months of hiring.AHA BLS Instructor certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hiring.NIMS ICS 300 & 400 within one year of hiring.EVD or EVOC within one year of hiring.Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
