Summary Objective
Person County Government is seeking a part-time Library Page for the Public Library. This employee will perform essential administrative duties to support the Library's outreach services. This role involves applying basic library work practices and providing excellent customer service to library patrons. The Library Page will be responsible for circulation desk tasks, including checking library materials in and out, collecting overdue fines, managing inter-library loan and reserve requests, and offering reader advisory and general assistance.
In addition to inside library duties, this position includes driving the bookmobile to designated locations on a scheduled basis. The role requires frequent interaction with library patrons and the general public, necessitating tact, courtesy, and strong customer service skills.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record per County policy.
This job works under close to general supervision according to set procedures but determines how or when to complete tasks.
The starting salary will be determined with consideration given to both the candidate's educational background and relevant work experience. This is a non-exempt position. Part-time employees cannot work more than 1000 hours per calendar year.

Essential Functions
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
- Assists patrons with questions, information requests, and with requests for materials.
- Collects fines and provides receipts.
- Answers questions and advises patrons in the use and location of library materials.
- Circulates materials using a computer and specialized library software.
- Issues library cards and processes patron holds and requests.
- Assists the public in using computers, equipment, library catalog, and electronic resources.
- Assists with collection maintenance tasks such as sorting, shelving, and withdrawing materials according to Library procedures.
- Repairs damaged materials.
- Performs related clerical duties as needed.
- Assists in Adult Library Programs as instructed by the Programming & Services Librarian.
- Performs related work as assigned.
- Drives bookmobile to specified locations on a pre-determined schedule.
- Assists Outreach Coordinator with programming and other outreach efforts.
- Assists Outreach Coordinator with the preparation of materials, stocking the bookmobile, coordinating homebound deliveries, and related tasks as required.
- Assists Outreach Coordinator with the development of effective service teams.
- Ensures that the bookmobile is clean and well-organized. Recruitment and Selection Guidelines
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
Special Certifications and Licenses
Must possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record per County policy.
Person County conducts pre-employment screening on candidates. Job offers are conditional pending the following:
