Job purpose


To provide research-based, developmentally appropriate instructional strategies for small group instruction and to assist classroom teachers with implementation of effective best practices to improve student achievement results and close achievement.


Essential Job Functions


  • Facilitate the school’s intervention program and work collaboratively with the classroom teachers to determine intervention needs of students.
  • Assist classroom teachers with the collection and analysis of formative and summative assessment data to provide targeted instruction.
  • Meet regularly with PLC teams to plan research-based, developmentally appropriate lessons based on formative assessment data in order to differentiate instruction.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers individually to identify the needs of students, to set learning goals and targets, and to problem solve with teachers to develop best practices for continuous academic growth of students through their personal education plan.
  • Participate in on-going and job-embedded professional development to enhance knowledge of pedagogy and content.
  • Maintain and submit accurate and up-to-date management records of all students’ progress.
  • Conduct and/or participate in parent conferences, as needed.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
  • Demonstrate the ability to incorporate technology tools and devices to enhance lessons, as well as for word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual and audio presentations, and telecommunications
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications


  • Current North Carolina Teacher Licensure
  • Minimum of five years successful classroom teaching experience; Master’s Degree in Education preferred
  • Proficient technology and digital learning skills
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills
  • Strong instructional skill inclusive of research-based, developmental


Physical requirements


The major physical and cognitive requirements listed below are applicable to this job classification within Person County Schools.


Work in this classification is considered light physical work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects.

Must be able to:

  • operate a variety of equipment including computers, copiers, overhead projectors, and data projectors
  • operate a motor vehicle

  • write using prescribed formats and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style
  • speak before groups of people with poise, voice control and confidence
  • apply principles of logical, critical, creative or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • deal with abstract and concrete variables
  • demonstrate and apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instruction and to make simple decisions interpret, infer, analyze, synthesize, and evaluate materials, resources, situations and problems to generate options and solutions
  • interpret and carry out oral and/or written instructions
