- Collect and analyze historical cost data to estimate current and future project costs.
- Consult with clients, vendors, internal departments, and construction teams to discuss and resolve issues during estimation.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates to support project planning, organizing, and scheduling.
- Analyze blueprints and documentation to estimate time, materials, labor, and costs accurately.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors to review and adjust cost estimates as needed.
- Review contracts and bid documents to fully understand project scope and support seamless project turnover.
- Participate in site walk-throughs, pre-bid meetings, and scope clarification discussions.
- Perform quantitative take-offs and enter data into estimating software.
- Prepare comprehensive scope letters and project proposals for potential opportunities.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, general contractors, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Coordinate with the Engineering Department for technical support on estimates and designs.
- Save all estimating documents in the company’s secure drive and maintain confidentiality.
- Assist project managers with pricing changes and takeoffs during project execution.
- Escalate critical issues to the Estimating Manager and propose solutions.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
- 10 years of experience in the construction industry, specifically in estimating.
- Prior experience with sheet metal is highly preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree is a strong advantage.
- Solid knowledge of construction processes, documentation, and cost estimation.
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local construction regulations and guidelines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and PDF viewers.
- Experience with AutoCAD Fabrication, EstMEP, and Quotesoft software.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
