Job Description:
We are seeking a kind, responsible, and compassionate individual to serve as a "Big Brother" for an 18-year-old young man with autism. This is a meaningful opportunity to make a lasting impact by providing friendship, mentorship, and social support.
This young man is friendly, enjoys spending time with others, and is looking for a positive male role model to help guide him through social situations, everyday life skills, and personal growth. He lives with his mother, who has a busy schedule, and she would greatly appreciate someone who can provide consistent support and companionship.
Responsibilities:
- Spend quality time engaging in activities such as going for walks, playing games, or exploring hobbies together.
- Serve as a positive role model by teaching life skills, appropriate social behaviors, and communication techniques.
- Assist with transportation if needed (must have a reliable car).
- Help encourage independence and self-confidence in daily interactions.
- Provide companionship, emotional support, and mentorship.
- Create a safe, fun, and encouraging environment that promotes personal growth.
Requirements:
- Must be fluent in English.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities is preferred.
- Patience, empathy, and a friendly demeanor.
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to teach and guide.
- Availability for weekends only, 6 hours per day (schedule may expand as he adjusts).
