Job Summary:
The Victim Services Advocate plays a critical role in supporting individuals impacted by sexual assault, domestic abuse, and related issues. This position primarily focuses on providing advocacy for sexual assault survivors but is cross-trained to assist all victims seeking services. Key responsibilities include safety planning, individual advocacy/counseling, medical and legal advocacy, victim accompaniment, resource referrals, and facilitating support groups. The Advocate also engages in educational initiatives, community outreach, and organizing awareness events to enhance public understanding and prevention of sexual violence and abuse.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized safety plans.
- Provide direct advocacy, including medical and legal accompaniment, to support survivors.
- Facilitate support groups that empower survivors and promote healing.
- Deliver prevention education presentations in schools and training sessions for community professionals.
- Plan and execute awareness events to raise awareness and reduce stigma around sexual violence.
- Collaborate with community partners and conduct outreach efforts to strengthen connections within the service area.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree in a human services-related field is preferred.
- Experience providing direct services to individuals and families is a plus.
- Awareness and sensitivity to issues related to sexual assault, stalking, harassment, trafficking, domestic/dating violence, and child sexual abuse.
- A strong understanding of trauma and its impact on individuals and families.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and communication skills.
- Being bilingual and fluent in Spanish is not required, but it is a plus.
Work Hours and Expectations:
- Full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.
- Occasional evening and weekend hours for:
- Rotating on-call crisis response advocacy at medical facilities.
- Participation in agency events, training, and community activities.
Salary and Benefits:
- Starting salary: $58,656 annually.
